It is the first impression on the site’s visitor. Different sites try to convey different things via the site name. Personal websites are named in all different kind of ways. From simple names to more abstract and esoteric names.

So whats with preritkumar.com ? Well for starters, that is my name. Prerit Kumar.

Many cultures have a tradition, where parents choose a word which has some nice meaning, to be the child’s name. India is one of those cultures. My name प्रेरित (Prerit) is a Hindi word, which translates to English as ‘inspired person’ or ‘to be inspired’ or ‘to inspire’, depending on the sentence. I thought of giving this site a fancy name like inspired.com, or inspire.com, but it just didn’t feel right. Me no fancy. Secondly, it is not a good idea to presume that anyone who sees inspired.com will understand that it is a personal blog site of some random Indian dude with a Hindi name प्रेरित.

So, after much deliberation, I settled on preritkumar.com. I know it sounds very matter-of-fact-y. It looks almost like a working title. Its like calling a shopping mall as ‘shopping mall’. But I like it. Easy to remember, for me ;-p

[3
5,6,7
